A Brief History of RARI:
In 1994 the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB), recognizing that most reflexologists felt there was a need to pursue the formation of a national association, hosted a conference in Denver, Co to explore such a possibility.
The Reflexology Association of America (RAA) was officially founded on April 30, 1995. As stated in the by-laws, those present pledged:
"We, reflexologists across the United States, determined to work together in unity while embracing our diversity, do resolve to combine our efforts for the professional development of the field of Reflexology...."
As RAA moved forward, the need for state associations became apparent.
The Reflexology Association of Rhode Island was founded in September of 2003.
"The affiliation between the Reflexology Association of Rhode Island and the Reflexology Association of America was formally approved by the RAA Board of Directors on July 24, 2006."
The Primary Goals of RARI are:
-
To monitor laws and regulations involving Reflexology within the State of Rhode Island; thereby protecting the rights of members to practice as a self governed profession.
- To establish standards and ethics for the practitioner.
- To promote continuing education so that the members may serve the best interest of their clients and the profession.
- To promote Reflexology to the public and other health care professions as a complementary health practice.
- To encourage communication and cooperation among its members, and other Reflexology Associations within the United States and around the world.
- To monitor laws and regulations involving Reflexology within the State of Rhode Island; thereby protecting the rights of members to practice as a self governed profession.
